The years at college are considered to be the most formative years in a person’s life. This is where you first step out of your comfort zone and start to live on your own away from family. You will be making your own decisions and for the most part you will be responsible for your own actions.
The problem that most people face when they start college is that they try to do too much too fast. The high energy environment pulls you in and takes you for a ride. The current, so to speak, is so strong that once you get sucked in it is near impossible to get your head out for a breath until it is already too late.
The proper way to go about college is like any other venture you take, slow and steady. You need to understand that now what you have a new environment to explore you need to first explore yourself with it. Figure out what makes you comfortable and where exactly you feel the most comfort and go from there. Plant both feet firmly when you start on a new path in college and always pull back if you feel something is affecting you negatively.
College has a reputation of becoming a very harsh eco-system that can become almost a jungle where survival of the fittest prevails. That is not the case if you are mentally ready to face things head on. Most of the drama that people get in to in college is because they are going with the flow and lose sight of their end goals.
Always remember the reason you are at college and be a part of the action just do not bring it home with you or let it affect your education. Keep your priorities in check and you will do fine.
